Session description:

Hazards related to glaciers and permafrost give threats to human lives and properties worldwide.  This session invites presentations to discuss a wide range of glacier and permafrost hazards.  These include state-of-the-art methodologies both in the field and in the laboratory, including various types of remotely sensed technologies, uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) application, GIS presentation, geophysical surveying; traditional field observations and repeat photography; case studies on glacier-related and permafrost-related hazardous events, including GLOF, ice and/or rock avalanche, debris flow, and flush flood; and GLOF risk assessment and assessment modeling, risk reduction measures. This session focuses on the issues in the Himalayas and other parts of high mountains in Asia; however, this session also welcomes presentations from the other parts of the world.
